The road to Sarntal Valley
For centuries, the Sarntal Valley gorge was an almost insurmountable obstacle to the development of the valley. A miniature representation in the Kränzelstein tower shows how this was achieved - first down along the Talfer and later up in the rock. The model, which is steeped in history, was built with great attention to detail. It shows what a feat of engineering it took to conquer the gorge and open up the valley to the outside world. The long period of seclusion in which the people of Sarnen lived shaped their special way of life - even today.
